Fattest State in the U.S.A.

I wanted to make some comments today on the state of our state… Mississippi. There was an article written by Jessica Watkins in the July 19th, 2009 Clarion-Ledger (Jackson MS) newspaper. In the article Jessica sites several studies about overweight kids in MS and how we need to help. I beleive this- I am not sure about the solution that Ms. Watkins offers, but that is another story for another blog.

I think she is right… we need to do SOMETHING about the weight problem that we all have here in MS.

When I was chosen for the People Magazine Weight Loss Challenge, I was chosen because I was from Miss… we all were, but I felt a need to show the rest of the U.S. that we were not incapable of changing that plight. I think that we can all change and find some solutions to the problem.

If some things are not changed, it WILL be as Jessica Watkins says in her article- adult life expectancy will decrease due to heart disease, Type 2 diabetes and other diseases.
