Fight Breast Cancer—- Really, Any Cancer

O.K.- This one is near and dear.

Approximately 3 months ago, my mother in law was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. She is the one that helped me name this blog—- so it seemed fitting that I do a post about this.

A couple of days ago, I wrote a post about the Peachtree Road Race. Well, that particular race was NOT a race for any real benefit…. except to the people that ran it. However, LOTS of them are…. and one of the best ones is for breast cancer.

I was reading an article about cancer survivors and how more and more doctors are recommending that they exercise. It seems that it is NOT just for healthy people. Apparently the unhealthy can benefit from exercise as well. Shocking!

But, according to this article (and a Doc at UAB), people that have just completed chemo may have just swapped muscle for fat equivalent to 10 years of aging. In other words, a 45 year old woman may find herself with the weaker, fatter body of a 55 year old.

Now, don’t get me wrong… I know some pretty good looking 55 year olds—– but I can promise you, this is not a swap you want to make.

Once again, the doctors have said that making a change as small as getting up off the couch and walking, can have tremendous benefits.

Hiya Rob,

Thanks for visiting my blog :) I’m in the process of reading about your amazing story and just wanted to say hello!

Sorry to hear about your mother-in-law, cancer is so devastating. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
